TMJ Techniques used

Karuna Wellbeing Ltd. in South Liverpool, L18

  • Masseter softening

The Masseter is one of the strongest muscles in the body - and one of the first to tighten when we clench or grind.

This technique uses slow, gentle pressure along the sides of the jaw to help the masseter relax. Many clients describe it as a warm, releasing sensation that makes the jaw feel lighter and more open.

  • Temporalis release

The temporalis muscle sits at the temples and often becomes overworked when the jaw is tight.

Light, calming touch around the temples helps this muscle unwind. Clients often feel tension lifting from the sides of the head, with a sense of spaciousness spreading through the face.

  • Neck and Shoulder decompression

Jaw tension rarely exists on its own - the neck and shoulders often join in, especially during stress or long hours of sitting.

Gentle lengthening, soft pressure and supportive movements help the upper body release built up tension. As the neck and shoulders decompress, the jaw often follows, settling into a more relaxed state.

  • Tongue drop coaching

The tongues resting position has a big impact on jaw comfort and overall facial tension.

You'll learn a soft, natural resting position for the tongue that reduces strain on the jaw. This often feels like the whole mouth becomes more relaxed, with less bracing or gripping.

  • Breath led nervous system calming

Stress and jaw tension are deeply connected. When the nervous system softens, the jaw often follows.

Slow, guided breathing helps the body shift into a calmer state. Clients often feel their jaw, shoulders, and face soften as the breath deepens and the nervous system settles.
