I've been considering blog writing for some time now, and although it scares me, I'm eager to try new things and step out of my comfort zone. Therefore, I'll begin by introducing myself and explaining what Karuna is.

Hi I am Jaz.
As a 32-year-old entrepreneur, I founded Karuna in 2019 following two years of dedicated effort in collaboration with The Women's Organisation in Liverpool City Centre. The concept of Karuna Wellbeing Ltd originated from a modest idea during a period of my own ill health, when I realized that the medications prescribed to me caused additional side effects, requiring even more medication.
What many people don't realize about me is that I began a degree in Forensic Anthropology in 2010, a field I was incredibly passionate about and couldn't imagine pursuing anything else. The program included various fascinating aspects that captivated me. However, by the time I reached my second year, I started experiencing syncope and dizziness. I underwent numerous medical tests and had frequent appointments, but when it came time to start my third year, I was largely confined to bed and had to defer my studies.
Later, I discovered that I had a heart disease that was making me weaker. Heart imaging also revealed that I have a flat side on my heart, which seems to be a congenital condition. During the year when I mostly saw the walls of my bedroom, I began to explore resources in my community that might improve how I felt. However, I found nothing.
With nothing better to occupy my time, I started researching and studying ways to help myself, exploring available options to reduce my reliance on medication, as I was taking approximately 50 tablets daily.
Literature frequently mentioned aromatherapy interacting with human senses to facilitate cellular recovery, as well as its specific approach to the musculoskeletal system to ensure comprehensive bodily support. This had me hooked and i began to delve into the rabbit hole.
Although I was determined to complete my degree, I also realized that if my health continued to decline, I wouldn't be able to pursue a career in this field. I disliked this reality and it took me a while to accept it, but my health was my priority, as it is for many people.
Once I regained sufficient strength, I returned to complete my degree. My final year took two years to finish because of my physical limitations. I was extremely happy to achieve this and couldn't thank my tutors enough for their support. It was now time to determine where my future would lead.
I was still concentrating on my strength but wanted to uncover the truths behind the literature I was reading. So, I began searching for part-time courses nearby, in case anything happened. It was a slow start, and I began with a course to build up my resilience that I disliked—beauty therapy. There wasn't a single aspect of this course that I enjoyed, but I wasn't going to push myself too hard. During this course, I followed a strict regime to strengthen my heart and body again, aiming for a better quality of life than before.

Once I had gained strength and completed the course, my outlook on life became stable, allowing me to accomplish more, albeit at a slower pace, but I found joy in it. This was the point where the real work began, with a persistent thought in my mind about what the community and I truly needed. We needed alternative healthcare, and from that moment, I vowed to pursue it not only for myself but also for others who might not be as strong as I am. The idea continued to grow, and I envisioned creating a clinic that would provide these alternative healthcare treatments to enhance people's lives.
By 2019, I launched a holistic treatment room called Karuna Wellbeing Ltd. Although I recognized there was still work to be done, I was operational and supporting my community.
Currently, I operate Karuna Wellbeing Ltd a multi-award-winning health and wellbeing clinic located in the heart of Allerton Road and we welcome you to our blog. Our expansive facility spans three floors, where we strive to provide the most extensive array of health and wellbeing treatments all under one roof.
The team is very friendly, caring, and dedicated to improving the community.
